[BLOG LOVE] Pretty 24/7 thinks I’m pretty :)

The lovely lovelies over at Pretty 24/7 dug around in my messy make up bag to find out what keeps me looking not-hideous.

Here’s an excerpt:

All-time favourite fragrance?

There can be only one: Thierry Mugler, Alien. Yummy.

And fragrance of the moment?

I’m quite enjoying Dior Addict to Life.

Who is your beauty icon?

It pains me to say (because I think her voice is dreadful), but I’m going to have to go with Rihanna. We have a similar shaped face and skin tone and she’s completely taught me that colour is my friend. I was always scared of short hair/ lipstick/ colourful eye make up until Miss RiRi showed us all that gutsy beauty can be gorgeous.

Favourite SA designer and why?

Oooh! This changes all the time, but right now I’m loving Thula Sindi. His creations are feminine, classic, modern, sassy… And I’m honoured to call him my friend.

Thanks for the little profile, Lauren!

[FASHION] From runway to reality (again)

Let’s ignore the fact that I’m looking a mess without make up… Thula Sindi’s pretty autumn/ winter collection pieces landed in the ELLE office and, given that I’m so tjatjarag, I couldn’t wait to slip on that blue skirt.

It is absolutely gorgeous, but extremely heavy and I could barely breathe. Think it’s time for me to dig out the running shoes again.

[JFW Day 3] Thula Sindi

I’ve already mentioned this show here and here and here and here. Overkill, much? Yes, maybe. Sue me, I love Thula.

This autumn/winter collection draws inspiration from the ‘super woman’ who juggles roles: mother, wife, career woman. Basically, the everywoman like you and I.

While I didn’t luuuurrrveee everything, I loved most of it. Here are my greatest hits.

These hot little tweed/ lace numbers kicked off proceedings. Feminine, sassy, elegant, too beautiful:

I’m not generally a fan of polka dots, but what’s not to adore about this:

How beautiful is this? Love the folds in front and the lace back (picture below):

Zebra print can often be a tad ‘My African Dream’, but this made me smile (and want to wear it every day):

We had this jacket in the ELLE office recently and it’s cuteness to the nth degree:

If you were wearing this skirt, wouldn’t you be sporting a smug smile as well?:

Drool:

Terry Pheto was in the crowd, wearing this cropped tweed and sequins jacket. I was prepared to rob her, but shame, I thought better of it because she’s a nice girl.

These made me giddy with joy:

A job well done, Thula!

We <heart> this city

This year’s AFI JHB Fashion Week (autumn/ winter collections) is set to take to the streets of Joburg. That’s right, they’re moving away from the stuffy Sandton Convention Centre and exploring this beautiful, vibrant, dynamic city.

Last night I attended the official media launch at Randlords where it was revealed that the fashion showcase will have different iconic venues - from Fashion Kapitol to the Nelson Mandela Bridge. Can. Not. Wait.

Seen at last night’s media launch:

Malcolm Kluk and Christian Gabriel du Toit.

Mpho, Tebogo and Tshepo Lerole (Kwela Tebza).

Aspassia Karras and Noni Gasa.

Thula Sindi.

DJ Zinhle and friend.
