I’m actually too old to have seriously been into Hannah Montana, so Miley, to me, has always been a starlet who I couldn’t really understand or connect with. Her music seemed disposable and goofy and her look was a bit too sanitised and cookie cutter.
But then last August, she cut her hair and amped up the ‘interesting factor’ by about 100%. Lately, I’ve found myself half-baffled, half-amazed by her red carpet choices, which is actually a good thing. The girl fascinates me - she’s anything but boring!
I think she’s navigated her post-Disney, ‘I’m not a girl, not yet a woman’ era like a pro and is definitely the anti-Lilo. Of course, she gets up to nonsense and possibly isn’t the best role model, but at least there aren’t any arrests or rehab stints. She seems to be doing her ‘finding herself’ in the least destructive way possible. I love that she’s just having fun - she’s young, pretty, rich and is owning it.
So let’s take a look at my top Miley faves:
Super chic at the Marchesa show.

Sleek and sexy at 2012 VH1 Divas.

Oh, these ol’ flat abs? Sizzling at the iHeart Radio Music Festival.

Looking confusingly amazing at last night’s Billboard Music Awards.

Fully committing to the Punk theme at last week’s Met Gala.

I swear this is my last Met Gala post for today. But this picture’s so good, I couldn’t resist. So apparently Beyonce’s dress was so tight, she couldn’t make it up the steps without help from her husband Jay Z and another assistant? Now that’s being dedicated to your look, Ms Knowles!

So many people wore spangly sparkly gold numbers. It’s officially a thing. Again.

[MET GALA: WHAT WERE Y’ALL THINKING] I don’t have the heart to blog about these looks individually, but I was disappointed in all of them. Especially my current style crush Solange Knowles.

Salma Hayek
To quote ELLE Fashion Editor Kirsty: sen-sa-tional! And I swear I didn’t just pick this because the Gala honoured McQueen… This look honestly made my heart skip a beat.

Rumer
Yes, this comes as a shock to me as well. Little Rumer Willis is my second best dressed at the Met Costume Gala. And I refuse to feel bad about loving what she’s wearing. It’s the damn shoulder detail. And the hair. And the four fingernails painted black + pinkie nail painted red thing. And the perfect (non) accessorising. She makes this classic black look exciting. Well done.

Michelle Williams
The actress formerly known as Jennifer from Dawson’s Creek will never be not cute to me. So adorbs. I love most everything about this look and the birdies are sending me over the edge.

Designer Zac Posen with Christina
There’s something very ‘Wednesday’ about this (Addam’s family reference! Holla!) and I think that’s just terrific.

Doutzen Kroes
I’m not usually a fan of flouncey flounce, but this made me smile. Her make up and hair = on point!

Ginnifer Goodwin
Someone tell Gaga to hold that telephone. When I saw this dress, my mind immediately thought: ‘Hmmm.. Gucci’. But, no. It’s TopShop! Wowza. A very bold choice and she pulls it off. I love the colour on her and the cut out style, which can come off as very 90s, actually works well. Not to mention the fact that I love her pixie cut and THAT MAKE UP… Amazing.
