In a weird way, tonight showed me the things I’ve been avoiding in jhb, what I won’t miss: ego, narcissism, naked self-interest, mediocrity
Thanks to everyone who took time out to spend time with me this evening. I’m exhausted, but still so happy! Jhb is love!
#FlatmateTy’s loving me so hard right now. She’s getting first dibs on all the unused unwanted make up

This is an arbitrary list of things I’ll be leaving behind in JHB:
1. The expectation that I’ll bump into a handsome man in the mall/supermarket/club/wherever and he’ll ask me out on a date and pay for my meal. Those things just don’t seem to happen in CT.
2. My collection of stillettos for fear of being labelled a ‘try-too-hard’.
3. Any expectations around good or prompt service at places where I want to part with my hard-earned cash.
4. Most of my girlfriends :(
5. All my unresolved issues about The Doctor, as recorded here and here.

Hi… Hope you’re well?
So I may be writing this while a biiitt tipsy; so what? Gives me an excuse to disavow any knowledge of its existence, kinda?
Well, this might also be due to my complete masochistic streak or my constant desire to subject the world to my emotional whims. Ja, definitely over-sharing.
At least I’m always entertaining. And this could be another story you tell your grandkids about some day.
Why am I emailing you in my tipsy state (besides the obvious - I’m a lush, duh!)? Well, {insert name here}, you’ve been a constant irritant to me since the day we met last year sometime (April-ish?). You fucked me up emotionally and I’m still not over the emotional fucked uppedness or you, for that matter. And. I. Don’t. Know. Why?! Like, I’m friggen awesome and you’re, well, emotionally stunted and many other things that are all kinds of wrong. You were so cruel to me, but I fell for you pretty damned hard and pretty damned quickly.
I broke up with you because ‘omghejustdisappearsonme’ and he’ssuchanemotionalretard’ and ‘hedoesn’tappreciatemei’mwaytoawesomeforhim’ and ‘whothefuckdoeshethinkheis’. And we’ve both moved on but I’m. Still. In. Mourning! Anditfuckensucks. I’m really mad at myself but have no idea how to process these feelings coz cotdayum doesn’t everyone vouch for the fact that they’re eventually just supposed to fade.
And I know I’m a neurotic (actually not, coz my psychologist says I’m not), but this lingering lingeringness is even too much for me to bare (bear? Spelling?).
Basically, what I’m saying is, get the fuck out of my mind already. You’re harshing my mellow, for reals. Actually, respond in any way you deem fit.
By which I mean, if you don’t respond, I will torch your home. Kidding.

Kanye + Jay Z = The Throne
Kanye West (my future ex-husband) and Jay Z are now collectively called The Throne and they’re going on tour! Unfortunately, only in the States. See the dates over on the LiveNation site, HERE.
Before we get into the dates of a tour I won’t be able to attend, let’s get into release dates, shall we?
The digital release date for WTT has been set for 8 August, and the CD release date is 12 August, according to MTV.
WTT will have 12 tracks, with four bonus tracks on the deluxe version. Mrs Carter, Frank OCean, Mr Hudson share the hook singing duties, with RZA, The Neptunes and Mr West himself hooking up the production.
Must admit I’m getting tired of the anticipation. Release, already!

The lovely lovelies over at Pretty 24/7 dug around in my messy make up bag to find out what keeps me looking not-hideous.
Here’s an excerpt:
All-time favourite fragrance?
There can be only one: Thierry Mugler, Alien. Yummy.
And fragrance of the moment?
I’m quite enjoying Dior Addict to Life.
Who is your beauty icon?
It pains me to say (because I think her voice is dreadful), but I’m going to have to go with Rihanna. We have a similar shaped face and skin tone and she’s completely taught me that colour is my friend. I was always scared of short hair/ lipstick/ colourful eye make up until Miss RiRi showed us all that gutsy beauty can be gorgeous.
Favourite SA designer and why?
Oooh! This changes all the time, but right now I’m loving Thula Sindi. His creations are feminine, classic, modern, sassy… And I’m honoured to call him my friend.
Thanks for the little profile, Lauren!

Pretty, isn’t it?
My life’s become a roller coaster of note. I’ve been appointed the new EDITOR of SEVENTEEN Magazine SOUTH AFRICA and, even though I’m still reeling, this means I have to get myself together and move back to Cape Town to take up my new position next Monday, 1 August.
I’m just so really grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started. What an exciting new chapter for me!
You can read more about my appointment HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE.
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported me along this journey to get to this moment. I realise the hard work starts now!

I’m not a spontaneous person by nature, but one minute I was sitting at a lunch table, the next I had this lovely piece of ink scribbling on my arm.
My first tattoo.
These are the words I live by: And above all else, to thine own self be true.
I’m so hyped and happy.

It’s no secret that I adore Amber Jones. She’s all kinds of awesome. So I’m really excited to announce that her range with Mr Price - called The Best is Yet to Come - hits stores on 25th JULY! Yes, on Monday! Pay day! Holla!
Amber sat down with ELLE South Africa’s Jenna McArthur to chat about the range and here’s some of what she had to say:
We love the range, how would you describe it?
Wow. Hard one. A rather-odd-in-a-good-way schoolgirl who often wears her dad’s clothes from the seventies…
Tell us about the colours and fabrics used?
I was having a love affair with texture when I designed it so I chose chunky knits, linen suitings, printed woven viscose and faux fur for warmth and added denim and cotton twills for contrast. The colour palette is very earthy, with splashes of navy and warm burnt oranges.
What sets this range apart from others?
Little details like elbow patches, paper-bag waist detail, statement buttons and raw reversed hems. I really wanted the girl who wears these clothes to feel we cared about how she felt in them.
Everything in this range is completely wantable and the price point makes it imminently gettable. Look how cute:

On my shopping list:
- Printed harem pants - R139.99
- Boyfriend blazer - R199.99
- Cardi - R129.99
- Denim bustier - R79.99
- Printed shirt - R119.99
Actually, who am I kidding? Something tells me I’m going to buy more than that :) Congratulations, Amber!

Loving this editorial in Tatler’s August edition. It features models wearing outfits from different designer fall collections and posed as iconic women.
Photographer Robert Trachtenberg and fashion editor Anna Bromilow recreate Princess Diana, Coco Chanel, Madonna, Tina Turner, Twiggy, etc.

Ghanaian-Jamaican Soraya Khalil won the Benetton It’s My Time campaign, to become one of twenty faces from around the globe to represent the brand. Playing up her beautifully coifed afro, Soraya has quickly captured the attention of the fashion world beyond Benetton.
