I’m actually too old to have seriously been into Hannah Montana, so Miley, to me, has always been a starlet who I couldn’t really understand or connect with. Her music seemed disposable and goofy and her look was a bit too sanitised and cookie cutter.
But then last August, she cut her hair and amped up the ‘interesting factor’ by about 100%. Lately, I’ve found myself half-baffled, half-amazed by her red carpet choices, which is actually a good thing. The girl fascinates me - she’s anything but boring!
I think she’s navigated her post-Disney, ‘I’m not a girl, not yet a woman’ era like a pro and is definitely the anti-Lilo. Of course, she gets up to nonsense and possibly isn’t the best role model, but at least there aren’t any arrests or rehab stints. She seems to be doing her ‘finding herself’ in the least destructive way possible. I love that she’s just having fun - she’s young, pretty, rich and is owning it.
So let’s take a look at my top Miley faves:
Super chic at the Marchesa show.

Sleek and sexy at 2012 VH1 Divas.

Oh, these ol’ flat abs? Sizzling at the iHeart Radio Music Festival.

Looking confusingly amazing at last night’s Billboard Music Awards.

Fully committing to the Punk theme at last week’s Met Gala.

Earlier today Kelly Rowland released a her brand new single Dirty Laundry off her upcoming album Talk A Good Game. which is set to be release on June 18th 2013 . On “Dirty Laundry” Kelly speaks on surviving an abusive relationship and admits her jealousy towards Beyonce.
“I was battered. He’s hitting the window like it was me /
And still it shattered. He pulled me out and said ‘Don’t nobody love you but me / Not your mama / Not your daddy / and especially not Bee.“It was very emotional. It took me days to record, I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the song, not sob through it. I always hope that my music can inspire someone, the same way other artists inspire me. Dream said, ‘I want to write you a record so that people will know exactly who you are, underneath it all.’” Rowland tells Billboard.com
When my sister was onstage, killing it like a mother-fu*ker/
I was enraged, feeling it like a mother-fu*ker

Just downloaded Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s new one onto my iPad. Cannot wait to find the time to read it. She’s undeniably one of my favourite writers. The type who strikes fear into the pens and keyboards of literary wannabes such as yours truly. Thus far, she’s had high praise from reviewers at Vogue, The Guardian and The Telegraph. If you want a little background or primer on what to expect from this novel, head over to the Huffington Post!

I haven’t blogged in forever. I know I’m the living worst. But I promise I’m about to be (annoyingly) back. There’s just sooo much of, well, everything, happening in my life at the moment. But that shouldn’t really stop me from doing the do here, right? I need to justify calling myself an editor/ blogger or whatever it is that I’m doing here… So. Allow.
